.950 Jdj Price - Our video on the SSK Industries 950 JDJ Rifle (better known as the "Fat Mac") was released less than a week ago and is already the most popular video we've ever produced. If you haven't seen it, here's an introduction to it.

This giant was developed by J.D. Jones, the eponymous president of SSK Industries. It is a 20x110mm Vulcan Cannon cartridge that is shortened and chambered in .950 caliber. It's so big that it had to get an ATF "sports use exemption" from the ATF to avoid being classified as a destructive device. SSK only made three rifles to fire this huge cartridge.

The 950 JDJ Fat Mac is one such rifle. Definitely pushing the boundaries of small arms, this huge one-off collectible firearm boasts a suite of features designed to lessen its powerful recoil. First, it's mounted on a bench pad, so it's easier for the shooter to use some sort of shooting platform. Second, it comes with a massive muzzle slit almost the diameter of a 2-liter soda bottle. Finally, this Leviathan weighs 61 pounds, more than Toledo! No wonder he needs bench supplies.

Got $40? Meet The .950 Jdj

With such a rare and powerful gun in the house, sooner or later the urge to shoot would arise. On a beautiful fall afternoon, I was lucky enough to take the Fat Mac to a private range along with the two other monster wheels shown in the photo above. The .700 NE was fired from a massive Searcy & Co. double-coupled rifle. (Also featured in our December 2017 Top Gun Auction), 4 rounds fired from a beautifully crafted Ken Owen double barrel shotgun (ito). To say it was a great morning would be an understatement. Watch our video on some of the most powerful collectible weapons in the world.

How about it? Not as "shoulder broken" as people think. It's clear, as you can clearly see in the slow motion, that the guns pack a punch! Their prosperity reports are more like cannons than guns. But what about their recoil? Let's describe them one by one:

Massively engraved B. Searcy & Co. .700 Nitro Express double rifling. Sold for $23,000 in December 2017.

This is definitely a powerful gun! Literally, people use smaller guns to kill elephants. think about it. Overall, recoil is fairly manageable. No bruising, no clothing marks, no tingling or pain in the shoulder area. If you're someone who bruises easily, your mileage may vary. While it's enough to cause your favorite post-shoot swearing, for me, post-shooting doesn't have any negative effects on the body. Five seconds later, I could have fired a .30-06 for all I knew. Except, of course, for my ridiculous smile and the palpable excitement running through my veins. No doubt, the rifle's 17-pound weight and generous recoil help dampen powerful impacts.

Powerful Gun Raises Debate About Who Needs It

This is the bad boy of the group. Modeled after the rifles made for Maharajah in Rew, India, this rifle was made by Memphis, Tennessee gunsmith Ken Owen in the early 1990s. He produced only six of these rifles and is said to have taken about 1,000 hours to produce each of the large twins. A quick glance gives an immediate impression: she's short, wiry, beautiful, and oh my god, how big are those buckets? After a lot of preparation and adjustments, and a quick goodbye to my rotator cuff, a flick of the trigger was an absolute thunderbolt. It puts the shooter back about as much as the .700 Nitro Express, but feels very different and more powerful. In fact, it was the only rifle of the day whose recoil didn't stop firing. Then my shoulders went numb.

Think so. After you fire your shotgun or military surplus collectible weapon, you shoot, and then the feeling is over. You left no different. Now imagine that you ask a good friend to pull you back and hit where you would normally put the butt of your rifle or shotgun. That feeling doesn't end in boxing, it's always there. The same goes for the 4-hole drill and its cordierite counterpart.

In the end we reached 950 JDJ. It was the most intense round of the day with the biggest gun firing of the day. With all that power, we definitely have the utmost respect for this rifle. After making a makeshift "sled" out of sandbags and bags full of buckshot, we safely positioned the rifle. The breech was removed, the cartridge was gently placed in the paw, and slowly loaded into the rifle. With a slight twist of the bolt, everything locked into place and we were ready for everything this rifle has to offer.

It was a surprise when Fat Mac turned out to be the most manageable jerk of the day. Then again, when you consider all of the aforementioned shock-damping features, perhaps this isn't a surprise at all. Despite all the brass customization and hand loading, this is the gun you want to shoot until you run out of ammo. It would be nice if we had more time to use Fat Mac to test its prowess against a variety of unsuspecting and unusual targets.
